Prester John Beer

Prester John Beer is the best selling alcoholic drink of all time.  It was first brewed at a small brewery located in Black Island, Kingland.  In 9979, wartime profiteer Adolphus Roguewater became owner of the struggling brewery.  A Brewing Company became ABC Brewing when Baron Roguewater succeeded his father at the turn of the millennium.  Baron oversaw profound changes at the Black Island location, as stainless steel vessels and pipes replaced wooden vats.  In 10015, he commissioned architect Paul R. Williams to oversee a large scale expansion of the brewery.  William's dazzling contribution became known as the "beer cathedral."

Baron's masterstroke was securing a Price and Procurement Committee contract to supply beer to Confederation troops during the Light War (10026 - 10030).  Soldiers returning home from the war made Prester John their beer of choice.

Constant Roguewater succeeded his father, Baron, in 10030.  Constant used Prester John's postwar popularity to transform the brewery into a global concern.

ABC's international operations, ABC International, Inc., was established in 10031 and is responsible for the company's foreign beer operations and equity investments.

Today, ABC International operates 12 breweries on the continent Uriel-Jeterrae and has operations around the world.

Although Constant Roguewater is renown for his marketing acumen, it is his fierce adherence to the original Black Island recipe that cements his brewing empire.  Prester John stout is made from water, barley malt, hops, and brewers yeast.  A portion of the barley is steamed and rolled and roasted to give Prester John its dark-ruby color and characteristic taste.  It is pasteurized and filtered.

The distinctive feature in the flavor of Prester John beer is the roasted barley which remains unfermented.  A portion of the beer is aged to give it a sharp lactic flavor.  The thick creamy head is the result of a nitrogen mix being added during the serving process.  Pouring a perfect glass of Prester John has evolved into an art form.

In 10049, Kohl magazine listed Constant Roguewater as the 29th richest man in the world with an estimated net worth of 8.5 billion.
